Episode 24: I think I almost got engaged...

So let me tell you about Sean.  Sean messaged me and is apparently one of those guys who knows what he wants and goes after it when he finds it.  A few days ago, I was his target. Alas, the warning bells went off and I told Sean to move along.  Let me share with you the lovely messages I received...

Sean: I absolutely love your profile, I hope trying to know you is not intrusive if me, a response will be appreciated

Me: First, I have a profile on a dating site.  That's pretty much implicit permission to try and get to know me, but whatever.  I responded with some pleasentries.

Sean: I really like all about you. My interest is in a good personality and sense of humor for I need someone to lift my spirits.but am open to any depending upon if you are ready for me . I hope that I could possibly have a new life with you. I am looking for a love, serious and longtime friendship with you.

Me: Ding! Ding! Ding! That's the sound of the first warning bell. Sean, honey, are you looking for a girlfriend or a therapist because I'm a little unclear. I understand being single can make a person feel lonely, but I don't want to date a perpetually depressed man.  I tell him I'm also looking for a serious relationship, but maybe we should, ya know, exchange names first before he asks me to go steady. So we exchange names and...

Sean: can we start this baby?

Me: Well now. We've already graduated to pet names, huh Sean? I'm gonna need a diamond and proof of fertility. Go big or go home, right?  You want someone to lift you up? I want a hubby and a baby. Bring it on, crazy man.

Sean: we can be the best of all

Me: I'm sure we could. You know what is also the best? Capital letters and punctuation! I give Sean the brush off because I don't even want to entertain that level of drama.

Sean: To truly love something, you must first give it a chanceto fall. if it survives, it is going to be stringer than ever. Distance is pure proof of this, and forever we will be if we survive

Me: ...

Sean: am just beginning to have interest in you

Me: ...

So, yeah, Sean and I weren't met to be.  I'm totally a big believer in chemistry.  Sometimes you have an initial chemistry with people that can't be explained. It can be romantic, friendship, etc. I've fallen in love fast and made close friends fast. But Sean, it was never going to happen buddy. Maybe work on yourself a little before inviting someone to drink your crazy Koolaid with you.
